Sawmill Pass, July 2022

Jack, John, Srisuda and I met at the trailhead for Sawmill Pass the night before the hike since we wanted to get an early start. There were a few peaks we wanted to try to climb and Srisuda and I also wanted to enjoy some time at nice Sierra lakes.

Cottonwood Pass, June 2022

John and I went up to Cottonwood Pass with the intent to climb a few 13ers. We left early in the morning and arrived at the Horseshoe Meadow trailhead around noon.

Catalina Island Traverse June 2022

This year’s Father/Daughter trip was a traverse hike the length of Catalina Island.

Taboose Pass, June 2022

John and I went up to Taboose Pass for an early season Sierra backpack and attempt to ascent 2 mountains: Striped Mtn. (13,185 ft / 4019 m), Cardinal Mtn. (13,402 ft / 4085 m).

South Carolina Summits

On Dorie’s and my annual trip to the South Carolina beach, I noticed 2 summits I had not previously climbed.

Anza Borrego – March 2022

The Fish Creek/Vallecito Badlands area of Anza Borrego is supposed to be fossil rich, so we went for a hunt.

Ship Mountain, Granite Mountain, Providence Benchmark

John and I went out to climb some desert peaks in the Mojave.

Turtle Mountains HP, Whipple Mountains HP, Chemehuevi Peak

Looking for some desert solitude I headed to the southeastern part of the Mojave desert. I found what I was looking for and more: 3 nights, 3 days, 3 sunsets, 3 sunrises, 3 bushwhacking peak ascents, 0 people, 5 burros, 1 fox, 1 bighorn that didn’t make it, wind, cold, total silence at times, numerous attacks by cholla cacti (didn’t need that).

2 Days in Joshua Tree Feb 2022

Desert hiking was on the agenda for 2 days in Joshua Tree National Park.

Granite Mountain Feb 2022

John is working off his San Diego 100 Peaks and had 62 down and wanted to bag Granite Mountain to make it 63. That is my favorite mountain in San Diego County, so Uwe and I joined him on this hike.
