Well they’re totally different than the Sierra. Trees. Lots of trees.
I picked 5 of the most remote peaks on my SoCar list. The first, Burrell was the site of a 1943 B25 crash. The rest were unremarkable. I did pass a fish hatchery where over 200,000 lbs. of brown and rainbow trout are raised for release into SC waters.
Four mountains were bushwhacking. They all had thick rhododendron growth, poison ivy, and no views, but no cacti, cat claw, or jagged rocks to negotiate. Bushwhacking is relatively a big deal here because navigation was by map and compass with only a distant tree for a bearing mark. And you know how easy it is for all trees to begin to look alike when navigating. Anyway, I didn’t get lost, so it was an enjoyable day. I labeled each peak photo so you can tell them apart.

Kudos for not getting lost in those woods, Dad!
That’s an adjustment to all that green and no views.
