Two more South Carolina mountains but with some interesting environs.
Chestnut Ridge and Flattop Mountains are in a very remote part of northwest SC. The hike was much the same as the other 5 mountains – a lot of bushwhack, no trail, no views and no other people. In fact, according to Peakbagger, I was the 2nd person to summit these 2 mountains, the last guy before me was in 2020. The drive in to the trailhead was a gnarly 8-mile 4wd, which was fun. On the way in I came across a biker bar, complete with a restaurant grill and outdoor dining. No one was there, which was probably a good thing for me.
