Cloudripper Attempt, Aug.12, 2019

After our backpacking hike and a day’s rest we met up with Jack at the Willow creek campground just below South Lake on the South Fork of Bishop Creek. The intention was to climb Cloudripper.

Sawmill Pass, 4 Day Backpack, August 2019

Sawmill Pass is one of the more difficult passes from the east into the Sierra Nevada. This is mostly because it starts at 4600 ft in the desert and tops out at 11,347 ft, with some ups and downs this leads to almost 7000 ft elevation gain.

Sugarpine, Bailey’s and Monument Mountains Aug 6, 2019

I reviewed other hikers reports for these three peaks. The total was about 9 miles, however;

Luna and Rattlesnake Mountain August 2, 2019

What a difference 10° makes on a desert mountain hike.

Ross Mountain via Mount Baden-Powell, August 3, 2019

I wanted to bag Ross Mountain for a while, but dreaded the up and over and back over Mount Baden-Powell. We needed another hike to get into Sierra season shape and were a little tired of our usual local higher elevation hikes. So Ross Mountain via Baden-Powell it was.

Above the Clouds, Monserate Mountain

Just a quick hike up Monserate Mountain for a little exercise. The weather conditions made it a little more interesting than usual. We started in fog and then climbed out of it to be above the clouds (marine layer). Not bad to get above the clouds with only having to climb up 1,250 ft. Round Mountain July 2019

I started out to bag three more of the San Bernardino peaks on my list. It didn’t sound like a hard day but I didn’t anticipate the heat in the north San Bernardino Mountains.

Peak Bagging July 20-21

My original plans for the weekend fell through but luckily Uwe suggested we go up Deer Springs trail on Sunday. I was game! I also wanted to push myself hard so I decided to head up to the San Gorgonio area Saturday morning.

California’s Lost Coast Trail – July 9-11

High tides, rogue waves, bears, avalanches, rattlesnakes, poison ivy and ticks. All part of the dangers of the Lost Coast Trail and this year’s father/daughter trip.

Palomar Mountain

I wanted a training run and I wanted some elevation. I chose Palomar High point and wanted a 6AM start but instead overslept and got ~8AM start (bad idea). All I brought was my running vest, water and some snacks. It was hot the whole way! I made it up the Oak Grove Trail inContinue reading “Palomar Mountain”
