Not your typical hike or bike adventure. More of a treasure hunt.

Jack jumped through the hoops and got a permit for this adventure. So John, Klaus, Srisuda, and I joined him since the he already had taken care of the hardest part of the hike 😉

A HOGO (Hike One, Get One) that was almost too much for a solo hike.

After 2 months of quarantine, it was time to go to the mountains.

Parts of Anza Borrego Desert State Park were closed: camping grounds,  parking lots, visitor center, and some developed trails, but limited hiking was still allowed.

In the middle of February Bianca and I took a vacation to visit my parents and sisters in Vermont for 10 days. Joel is back. He’s playing for 2 softball teams, so he doesn’t have much time, but he wants to finish the San Diego 100, and he decided Sunset Mountain was the next up.

There are 13 mountains that have been de-listed from the San Diego 100 list. I thought it would be interesting to add these to my ascent list.

The Thousand Palm Oasis lies in the middle of the Coachella Valley Preserve. Dorie and I did a little Valentine’s Day hike along the San Andreas Fault that runs through this part of the valley.
