The trail started with the warning sign. I didn’t quite know what to expect.

A hidden gem in the San Bernardino’s.

The 4th of July weekend brought Quinn and her boyfriend, Ken, to experience some San Bernardino hiking.

3 days at the very southern tip of the Sierra Nevada. The mountains here are not very high, but still fun to explore.

We have done quite some hiking on the desert divide and between us where only missing Antsell Rock (“Gem of the desert divide”) and Apache Peak missing.

Headed out to the Santa Rosa Mountains and to Toro Peak, considered off-limits with a gate across the forest road and nasty signs.

We got to stay at Jack and Dorie’s cabin for a week (Thank you!). That put us within easy reach for a lot of peaks we still have on our list.

Not your typical hike or bike adventure. More of a treasure hunt.

Jack jumped through the hoops and got a permit for this adventure. So John, Klaus, Srisuda, and I joined him since the he already had taken care of the hardest part of the hike 😉

My plan was to hike Meeks and Bighorn Mountains, 2 of the 5 outliers of the San Bernardino Range. These outliers are on the far northeast side of the San Bernardino’s.
