Joel is back. He’s playing for 2 softball teams, so he doesn’t have much time, but he wants to finish the San Diego 100, and he decided Sunset Mountain was the next up.

There are 13 mountains that have been de-listed from the San Diego 100 list. I thought it would be interesting to add these to my ascent list.

The Thousand Palm Oasis lies in the middle of the Coachella Valley Preserve. Dorie and I did a little Valentine’s Day hike along the San Andreas Fault that runs through this part of the valley.

We had seen pictures of this cool limestone formation in Central Thailand and decided it might to fun to visit it.

During last years Super Bowl Uwe and I decided to snowshoe San Jacinto which turned out to be a phenomenal idea as the mountain was empty. This year I decided to skip the game and spend some time outside.

Last year Maren and I wanted to try to walk 100 km (62 miles) in a day (i.e., without sleeping, not necessarily in under 24h) but we both got sick and had to postpone. Now, a year later, we had another opportunity.

The first winter storm of the season dropped some snow in the SoCal mountains. So Kevin and I had to go check it out.

We needed a desert hike and some campfire time. So Jack organized a quick trip to Blair Valley. We arrived Friday after lunch, found a spot, setup camp, started a fire with some of the wood from the truck load of wood John brought, and hung out with some beers and good food.
