Table Rock State Park was a perfect location for the first SC camping trip for Dorie and me.
There were also 2 peaks on the SC top 50 list that needed climbing. This is a beautiful area of SC. Big forests, huge boulder formations and numerous waterfalls. The state park campground was excellent and only 1 other camper was within sight of our camp. The first day we hiked Table Rock Mountain. This was a very steep, boulder/stair 6-mile hike. It was a little strenuous for Dorie so the margarita post hike beside the campfire made for a relaxed evening for her.
The next morning after a good breakfast, I hiked Pinnacle Mountain, another strenuous, steep hike. Dorie took a pass, explored the area, and got our propane tank refilled so we could have a campfire. It started to rain in the afternoon, but we were cozy around the fire under our tarp. The water main supplying the camp broke, leaving us with no functioning bathrooms, so we took off early the next morning and had breakfast on the way home.
I got in 4,700+ elevation and 17+ miles for a decent 2-day hike. It was good to go camping again.
