Finally, a SC peak with a forest road/path. Well at least one anyway.
A long uphill slog on a forest road to the top of Hogback yielded only views of an antenna tower and cyclone fence. The hike up Rocky Spur was more challenging and what I’ve grown accustomed to in the SC mountains – overgrowth, serious bushwhacking and route finding. When I popped out of some heavy underbrush I ran across an old shack. I approached with caution. Was it hunters, druggies, or moonshiners? Don’t know and didn’t stay to find out. Rocky Spur was neither rocky nor a mountain spur, but I did get a small view of the Blue Ridge Foothills for my future adventures. (Click any picture to view slides)
