Anza Borrego Flowergeddon

No way were we going to Anza Borrego to see the flowers on a weekend, so we took a week-day. As expected, the desert was covered in beautiful, mostly yellow flowers. We took the typical loop from Christmas Tree Circle to Country Club, to Henderson Road back to the circle. There were tons of desert sun flowers, desert poppies, white desert lilies. It was a little early for the cacti, but Dorie spotted a pretty Beaver Tail. We had Desert Dog with us so there was little hiking. We had a very nice picnic lunch near St Richard’s Catholic Church. Instead of returning the way back through Ranchita, we continued south on S-22 making a nice loop back through Julian. Along that route the Ocotillos we just beginning and there was a lot of lavender flowers. We also discovered some new sculptures we had not see before along this southern route. Passing through Ramona, we stopped in a great little bar, Reds Whites and Brews for a pint. Great historic little place and friendly stop. (click on any picture to view slide show)
