A one night backpacking hike up to Middle Hawkins from the Crystal Lake recreation area to see the night lights of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

For diversion some of us hiked along the ridge to the east to visit a few other peaks, including Baden-Powell.<\/p>\n

The down side of hiking in the dry mountains of SoCal is the lack of water. I carried 9.25 liters. My pack weight 49.5 lb at the start, when we returned to the car it was down to 26.5.<\/p>\n
