With enough of the cold, wet winter in San Diego, Dorie and I decide to go to the Anza Borrego Desert for a warm and sunny camping trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

We went to Pinion Wash, one of our favorite campsites. It is at the end of a 4WD road at the base of the pass to Harper Flats. It\u2019s secluded and room for only 2-3 vehicles so all the way out we were worried that someone else would already be there. Rounding the last bend, we found it empty. Yeah!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We set up camp and I got to try my new tarp for shade. I was trying to find an alternative to the large and bulky E-Z Up. It worked great. Even Desert Dawg Petey was happy with the shade. On the way out, we were able to see a herd of 5-8 mountain sheep climbing one of the ridges. We detoured to explore the neighboring canyon for a future campsite. We went up Nolina Wash and found a nice dead-end canyon for camping in the future. Overall, it was a short trip but worth it to get some warm sunshine. Wildflowers were everywhere and we got to enjoy them without all the crowds in the more popular areas of the park. They made beautiful scenery with the snow-covered mountains in the distance. (click on any image to view slides)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
