A hidden gem in the San Bernardino\u2019s. Bluff Lake Reserve is a 20-acre lake with a mountain marsh and meadow. In the late 1890\u2019s a lodge was built there to accommodate stagecoaches coming up to Big Bear. It later became a camp and used as a filming location of the movies “Parent Trap,” and “Dr. Doolittle 2\u201d. Dorie and I hiked around the lake to the World Champion Lodgepole Pine discovered in 1963. It is a double-topped tree 110 feet and a 20-foot circumference It is estimated to be older than 450 years, which means that it germinated about ~1560-70 time-frame. We hiked on to Gunsight Point, scrambling up the rocks viewing the back sides of Slide. Keller, and Snow Summit.(click on any slide to view slideshow)<\/p>\n\n\n
