Arches National Park – April 13, 2019

After the grueling Canyonlands White Rim Bike Ride (See Uwe and John’s reports), Dorie and I set out with Joel and Chris for some hiking in Arches National Park. This is a very popular and crowded park, so we got an early start. Good thing. We drove to Devil’s Garden, viewing several of the famous arches along the way. Joel and I hiked a 7.4-mile loop which took us by several more arches. It’s always fun to hike with Joel because he tries to find a peak to do his Captain Morgan pose. This time he had to settle for an arch pose.
As we got back to the trail head, the usual crowds had taken over and the parking lot was over-capacity. We headed out for a beer. That evening we had a great barbecue dinner at the Blu Pig in Moab and afterward listened to some good blues music.
